TIME PREDICTERS
By Ron McRay
In about AD 30, as Jesus was leaving the physical temple in Jerusalem for
the last time, His apostles remarked how beautiful the buildings were.
Jesus responded with –
See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, There shall not
be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down
[Mt. 24:2].
That statement of Jesus prompted two major questions from the apostles –
when and what. When were these things to happen? In the
remaining part of chapter 24 and chapter 25, Jesus explained both their
questions.
Regarding the time (when) of its occurrence, Jesus included His coming.
Look closely at it –
And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven:
and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall
see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and
great glory [Mt. 24:30].
So, Jesus included His "second coming" as being part of the answer as to
the "when" of the apostles. Now, "when" was/is that "Second Coming?" Let
us look at a following verse.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till
all these things be fulfilled [Mt. 24:34].
Now, a very simple question for you:
"Why do people have a problem with what Jesus said? Why do they not
accept what He said without question? Why do they come up with their
own ideas to fit some particular teaching or denomination with which
they are associated?"
Look very carefully at all the date-setters and their predictions. None
have come true and none ever will! Do you know why? Because
Jesus said it would happen in the first century AD. Either it did, or
Jesus lied about it.
Almost any infamous person who arises, or any physical calamity that
comes along, or any perpetrated crime, like the events of September 11th,
and someone wants notoriety, money, or something else out of people, and
a date or time is set for the so called "second coming" of Jesus Christ.
The following is an example (sent to me my Marti Mikl):
Tuesday, September 11,2001 – the end began … I warned that one of the
last pieces of the prophetic puzzle, that has all come together right
before our eyes, that indicate all these various intricate prophecies
has (sic) come together, that Jesus Christ is near His return; I
believe the last piece is that the United States has to begin to fade
from its position of power … I really believe that the coming of
the Lord is very, very near. The events, even of this week, show
us that we’re very near the end … The whole predicted scenario is
fulfilled, right before our eyes. All the pieces of that predicted
puzzle, that would indicate Christ’s coming was just around the
corner or here already; there was just one piece … where the United
States would fade from power and that power would shift to Europe and
the revived Roman empire would take its final form. I believe that
we’re beginning to see that take place … The United States, now the
leader of the world and certainly of the West, has to fade from
power, according to prophecy, and I believe that’s soon going to
come. That power has to shift to Europe … I believe that, right now,
we need to focus on the great hope that we have that Jesus Christ
is soon coming and going to translate us from mortal to immortal.
This was the September 16th "special edition" of
International Intelligence Briefing (TV network Trinity Broadcasting
Network). Hal Lindsey was the one who made the statements recorded in the
above paragraph quote. Throughout the thirty-minute show, a large caption
stating "The End Begins" continually appeared on the screen behind Hal
Lindsey. The message was recorded so it could be transcribed accurately,
as it is above.
Now note the contradiction:
Jesus said His coming would be in the first century generation.
Hal Lindsey said it is still in our future.
Who do you want to believe? As for me and my house, we will take what
Jesus said.
Can I persuade you to think for yourself?
I love all of you. May God’s Holy Spirit guide you into truth.
